Audio Chat is a recorded audio message that both attendees and Organizers/Presenters can send to each other via the chat panel.
Note: You MUST have a microphone connected and installed on your computer to send audio chat messages. If you have no microphone available, you will receive the following information dialog box when attempting to record.
Setting Up Audio Chat
Before you can use Audio Chat in your room, you must first check if the feature is enabled.
-
Log in to your Admin Page and click the Modify Room Settings link, then click the name of the room you wish to modify.
- Scroll down to the Chat Options section and look for the Audio Chat setting.
- Choose a setting from the Audio Chat pull-down menu:
- Disabled: Removes the Audio Chat option
- Chat Only: Makes Audio Chat only available in the Chat Modules
- Q&A Only: Makes Audio Chat available only while the Q&A Manager is enabled
- Chat and Q & A: Makes Audio Chat available at all times.

You will see the microphone button present to the left of the entry area.
-
Clicking this button activates the microphone and begins the recording.
Note: If this is your first time activating your microphone with the web conference platform, a setup wizard will appear allowing you to enable and test your microphone.
-
Click Allow and Remember and then click the close button.
Initial view of the privacy settings
-
Complete the task.
Using Audio Chat / Sending a Message
-
You may now start recording your audio message. You will notice the activity meter on the right side measuring your audio level.
-
Click the Stop button when complete.
-
Note: The maximum recording time is sixty (60) seconds.
-
After clicking stop button, you may Check Audio (replay), Cancel, or Send it.
-
Sending an audio chat sends a link to the audio file to everyone's chat module, so they may play it for themselves when they choose. Moderators have the choice to play the file for everyone.
Special note: If chat is privatized, only Presenters and Organizers can see audio chat entries submitted by Attendees. They can either Play (listen individually) or Play for all (let all the participants hear it).
